The kind folks at Renaissance Learning have donated 100 AlphaSmart NEOs to our Young Writers Program. The NEOs come with a built-in word processing program, enough memory to store a 100-page script, and can run for 700 hours on just three AA batteries—definitely long enough to write a script! They weigh less than two pounds and are rugged little beasts that kids really love.

Each April, from this Script Frenzy forward, we will loan four classrooms 25 computers for their kids to use during their scriptwriting adventure.

If you believe that your classroom of young writers could benefit from the use of 25 AlphaSmarts this coming April, please send a request directly to Tavia Stewart. In the email, please include your name, Script Frenzy Young Writers Program username, the name and phone number of your school or library, and an 300-500 word explanation of why the AlphaSmarts would be helpful to your classroom.

Once we choose deserving classrooms, AlphaSmart will ship the computers to your class free of cost! Plus, they will cover the cost of shipping the NEOs back to them.

All requests must be received by March 9, 2009. NEOs will be mailed out to you by March 20.
