March is here, sign-ups are open, and we are proud to introduce our shiny new Script Frenzy Young Writers Program website! There are quite a few old and new site features that we don’t want you to miss. Below you will find a site tour that will cover just about everything our site has to offer young writers and educators. If you are a newcomer, make sure to visit the About section, and our FAQs to get caught up on who we are, what we do, and all you need to know in order to participate as a young scriptwriter or educator in Script Frenzy this April!
A Tour of the Script Frenzy YWP Website
1. The Countdown: Scriptwriting Boot Camp: Learning everything you need to know about scriptwriting and formatting just got easier! Join us in the new and improved four-week Boot Camp where we will help you decide what kind of script to write and teach you all you need to know before you begin writing April 1.Once you reach the landingpage, choose a grade-appropriate track and get started!
2.Young Scriptwriting Workbooks As you will find, the Boot Camp is packed with fun exercises and worksheets. You can download and print out all of these new, grade-appropriate, mind bending, scriptwriting worksheetsas a workbook here!
3. Scriptwriting How-Tos: Once you decide what kind of script to write, check out all of our How-Tos under the Writer’s Resources section. We hired scriptwriting professionals to write all they know about writing and formatting TV scripts, screenplays, and stage plays!
4. Author Profiles: After you sign up, click on My Script Frenzy in the top drop-down menu, then click Edit and tell us about your writerly self. Add a photo, poster, and even a YouTube trailer for your script-to-be!
5. The Teacher’s Lounge: If you are leading a group of young writers through April’s scriptwriting challenge, sign up as a teacher so you can use all the helpful resources in the Teacher’s Lounge (the link to the lounge will appear in the upper right-hand corner of our site once you are signed up). In the lounge, you will find new scriptwriting curriculum, teachers-only forums, information about our AlphaSmart Loaner Program, an order form to request a free Classroom Kit filled with motivational goodies for your kids, and more!
4. Scriptwriting 101 Glossary: Want to learn the “lingo” of the scriptwriting ’biz? Get ready for Hollywood Boulevard and Broadway by learning all 61 of our scriptwriting terms!
6. The YWP Forums: Begin your script-planning procrastination by reading through all the great advice and brilliant ideas in the YWP forums. Post some ideas, questions, and answers of your own throughout March and April.
7. Show Off and Spread the Word!: Let the world know about the daring feat you’re attempting this Spring by placing a participant icon on your website or blog! And if you want to help us get more young writers into The Frenzy, put up Flyers at your school, local libraries, and coffee shops!
