Week Two Begins!

Hello Scriptwriters. (Now that it’s Week Two, I feel like I can call you that.) I hope the bright new glow of your imaginations guides you through this second week. You’ll need it to get you from your first act (or acts) through to the midpoint. Yes, the midpoint. By the end of the week we’ll be halfway done!

If you feel like your creativity light is dimming even just a little bit there are a few things that might help:

1. Plan to perform your script: I did this over the weekend and it’s totally given me a second wind! It doesn’t have to be fancy. You could just plan on getting a group of your friends to read it out loud together. It could be a party. Everyone gets a part in your script, a gallon of soda, and some pizza! If you’re in drama, or you have friends in drama, see if you can perform your script in class or maybe even in front of the school.

2. Promise yourself an award: Mine is this super cute, hand-printed dress I found in a cool store down the street from my house, but yours can be anything you want. An entire Fudgie the Whale ice-cream cake, a trip to an all you can eat jelly bean buffet (if anyone knows where I can find this, please FrenzyMail me), or just a guilt-free night spent watching TV.

3. Take plenty of breaks: Don’t burn yourself out! You still have three weeks to go, so take breaks if you feel tired. You need to pace yourself—give your eyes, hands, and brain a rest if any are hurting—if you’re going to make it through to the end.

I hope these help. Keep writing and keep having a great time doing it!
